Course Description
Textbook: Exploring Creation with Chemistry (2nd edition), by Dr. Jay Wile.
This course is designed to be a first-year high school chemistry course and gives the student a rigorous foundation in chemistry, in order to prepare him or her for a college-level course. The course covers significant figures, units, classification, the mole concept, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, Lewis structures, molecular geometry, the gas laws, and equilibrium. Progress in science study is related to progress in math. It is recommended that students have completed Algebra I before they take this course.
The instructor has not set a minimum or maximum number of students for this course.
Instructor
Bob Stulac graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in history of science in 1996, and from the University of Nebraska with an M.A. in medieval European history in 2002. In 2004, he completed the coursework for a Ph.D. in medieval European history at the University of Minnesota. He has several years of experience teaching history, Latin, and chemistry.
