Course Descriptions
Title: Introductory Classical Greek I
Course description: This class is the first of three years of instruction in classical Greek grammar and will cover lessons 1-19 of From Alpha to Omega: A Beginning Course in Classical Greek. This year includes the alphabet, accenting, present, future and imperfect verbs, first declension feminine, second declension masculine & neuter nouns, adjectives, and vocabulary. Students will also practice some Greek to English / English to Greek translation.
Title: Introductory Classical Greek II
Course description: This class is the second of three years of instruction in classical Greek grammar and will cover Lessons 20-35 of From Alpha to Omega: A Beginning Course in Classical Greek. This year will include the third declension nouns, aorist, perfect and pluperfect verbs (both active and middle/passive), interrogatives, relative pronouns, and vocabulary. Students will also practice some Greek to English / English to Greek translation.
Title: Introductory Classical Greek III
Course description: This class is the third of three years of instruction in classical Greek grammar and will cover Lessons 36-50 of From Alpha to Omega: A Beginning Course in Classical Greek. This year will finish the verbs (both active and middle/passive), and get into the more difficult aspects of syntax such as complex sentence structure, independent and dependent clauses, conditionals as well as vocabulary. Students will also practice some Greek to English / English to Greek translation.
Title: Advanced Greek Readings
Course description: Readings from the New Testament and from classical Greek authors such as Plato, Euripides, Aristophanes, and Homer. These are designed as Advanced Placement courses.
